Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology), Griffith University

Katelyn holds the following memberships:
Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS)
Registered Medicare Provider

Experience:
Katelyn has experience in both private and public sectors, across outpatient and inpatient
settings, including a community clinic, a private inpatient hospital, Queensland Health and the OCD Busters and Preschoolers Overcoming Phobias programs, run by Griffith University.

Therapeutic approach:
Katelyn always works from a collaborative, client-centric approach, placing the client’s experiences and opinions first and foremost. Katelyn is passionate about children and teenagers having the best start to life possible and loves working alongside them and their families to create lasting change.

Katelyn can assist with difficulties including but not limited to anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, ADHD, difficult behaviour, anger/rage, parenting and social skills. Katelyn particularly enjoys and is experienced working with obsessive compulsive disorder and specific phobias, where she utilises exposure and response prevention approaches to tackle fears gradually. Katelyn is also experienced working with adults, with difficulties including anxiety, depression, past trauma, and substance use.

Katelyn works from predominantly cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) or acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) approaches, but utilises aspects from other evidence-based approaches to best meet the needs of each individual client, such as attachment perspectives, brief-solution focused therapy, and play therapy.

Katelyn believes fun should be part of any successful therapy encounter and loves engaging with clients on their level, using humour, fun and games. Katelyn also likes to incorporate parents in sessions to help them learn alongside their child so that skills can be applied at home for maximum benefit.
