How does a Psychologist work with children?
When working with children, it is very beneficial to have parents involved with this process. Sessions may be a mix of one- on- one time with your child, yourself as well as working with everyone together. We recognise that you as a parent are the expert on your child and therefore you are an incredibly valuable resource. We will always share with you what we have been doing in session, with the hope that you will practice this with your child between sessions. We believe in collaboration and the sharing of expertise - the psychologist with their skills and interventions alongside the parent as the expert on their child. For younger children the real change comes outside of the therapy room, as you practice these skills with your child.
